Gainesville, Georgia
Gainesville is the county seat of Hall County and was incorporated on November 30, 1821. The city was named for Virginia-born General Edmund Pendleton Gaines, a hero of the War of 1812. Mule Camp Springs was Gainesville’s original name. Today, Gainesville, GA has an annual festival named after the city’s original name – Mule Camp Springs Festival.
Gainesville surrounds Lake Lanier which as a 540-mile shoreline and is a favorite recreational site with golf courses, a water park, horseback trails, campgrounds and overnight accommodations.
